Kling AI comes from Kuaishou, the Chinese short-video company, and has grown into a full creative studio with image generation, video generation, motion control, and an agent workspace. Its newest model, Kling 4.0, opened in early access on September 28, 2026 and launched broadly in October.
According to Kling’s official guide, version 4.0 generates native clips from 3 to 30 seconds, supports 4K output and 21:9 ultrawide framing, and accepts prompts of up to 8,000 tokens. Up to 10 keyframes can pin visual states to points on the timeline, and Omni Reference combines as many as 15 images, videos, subjects, and voice references in one generation to keep characters and products consistent. Audio was upgraded to two-channel stereo with improved lip sync, and an editing mode lets users add, replace, or remove elements across up to five videos totaling 30 seconds. A developer API for Kling 4.0 is also available, and 10-bit HDR is listed as coming soon.
Kling appeals to creators producing longer narrative shots, ads with recurring products, and dialogue scenes that would otherwise need many stitched 5- or 8-second clips. Budgeting is less transparent than with some competitors: membership prices on the official site show first-month promotions, renewal rates differ from the headline price, and monthly credit allowances lapse at the end of each cycle, so check the live plan page before committing. Free access exists for eligible accounts but with limited credits, models, and watermark-free downloads.
