Replit is a browser-based development platform that has shifted from an online IDE toward an AI app builder. Users describe what they want in natural language, and Replit’s agent writes the code, after which the same platform hosts, publishes and monitors the result.
The current agent, Agent 4, writes and updates production code and can run tasks in parallel, while intelligent model routing picks a model for each job. Built-in services cover databases, authentication, hosting and monitoring, so a prototype does not need separate cloud accounts. A Design view with an infinite canvas lets users adjust layouts visually and apply them to the app. Projects can target websites or mobile, and more than 100 integrations, including OpenAI, Stripe and Google Workspace, connect apps to outside services. Multi-user collaboration runs through a kanban board, and Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM, audit logs and private networking options.
Replit works well for founders, product managers and developers who want a hosted prototype or internal tool quickly, without wiring up infrastructure. Free Mode lets subscribers brainstorm and build without spending credits, while stronger models draw on the plan’s monthly dollar allowance. The official pricing page currently lists no $0 plan, so Core is the entry point, and costs can rise once a project leans on premium models or heavy hosting.
