- Free-tier limits are not published in detail
- Grok Bot is excluded from the cheapest Plus tier
- Recent plan renaming makes pricing hard to compare
Grok comes from xAI, the AI company that SpaceX acquired in 2026 and that now operates under the SpaceXSI name. The assistant runs at grok.com, in iOS and Android apps and inside X, and a single sign-in syncs conversations, settings and subscriptions between them.
Beyond text chat, Grok includes Grok Imagine for creating images and video, a voice mode for hands-free conversation, and file uploads that cover PDFs, spreadsheets, code, images and audio. Connectors let it reach a user’s email, files and calendar inside a chat. The model line has moved quickly through 2026, with Grok 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7 aimed at coding, agentic tasks and knowledge work, and Grok Voice 3.0 as the latest speech model. Grok Bot, which assigns work to AI teammates on a persistent cloud computer, is included from the Premium tier. Paid access is now sold through The X Subscription, whose shared usage pool covers Grok models in both Grok and Cursor.
Grok appeals most to active X users who want an assistant close to real-time posts, and to people who would use both Grok and Cursor under one bill. Free use is available, though the limits are not spelled out publicly. The pricing structure is the main point of confusion: SuperGrok has been folded into X Subscription tiers, legacy subscribers keep their old plans, and the $8 Plus tier excludes Grok Bot, so buyers should check which tier includes the features they need.
