Anthropic builds Claude as a general assistant with a strong focus on careful reasoning, long documents and software development. It is available on the web, in desktop apps for macOS and Windows, and on iOS and Android. The desktop app can also reach folders and applications on the user’s own computer, which the web version cannot.
The model lineup includes Haiku, Sonnet and Opus, with the newer Fable model available on Max and through usage credits on Pro. Free accounts get Sonnet and Haiku. Projects act as self-contained workspaces with their own chat history and knowledge base, and Artifacts open documents, decks, dashboards or small interactive tools beside the conversation. Research runs many searches and returns one cited brief. Paid plans add Claude Code for agentic programming, Claude in Chrome and a Microsoft 365 integration, and artifacts can connect to apps such as Slack, Asana and Google Calendar once the user approves access.
Writers, analysts and engineers who work with long inputs, such as contracts, research papers or large codebases, tend to get the most from Claude, and Claude Code makes Pro a practical entry point for developers. Usage on Pro is metered in five-hour and weekly windows, so people who run long coding sessions every day often outgrow it and move to Max at $100 per month. Several newer features are in beta or research preview, so availability can differ by plan and platform.
